Jewellery Care

Handmade Jewellry Care

Jewelry should be stored in a cool, dark place, in a way that won’t scratch the surface of the jewelry. The lower the humidity, the better.

Our recommendation is “Last on, first off” - meaning you should put your jewelry on after you’ve pampered yourself with perfumes and lotions, give them a minute to sink in.

In addition, removing the pieces before showering, swimming, or any other chemical you might frolic around ;)
These are all tips to make sure your jewelry is well maintained, but if you’re anything like me- one or two showers won’t do much harm :)

Sterling Silver Jewelry Care

First of all, even before we talk about cleaning, did you know that as your jewelry helps you shine -
you actually help it shine too??
The daily wear of your silver actually does wonders to its state.

  • Make a Baking Soda Paste

Mix two parts baking soda to one part water to make a paste, then gently rub the mixture onto the jewelry. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth or microfiber towel. Allow the paste to dry completely to remove the tarnish.

  • Toothpaste and water

Dilute some toothpaste and a use soft-bristle brush on the sterling silver jewelry (Do not use whitening toothpaste). Wash out the paste with water and dry with a soft cloth.

  • Aluminum bath

Line the entire surface of a bowl with aluminum foil, add some boiling water. Then add 1/4 cup baking soda and a bit of kosher salt to the water, then mix. Place the jewelry in the bowl and stir gently. Let sit for up to 5 minutes.
Pull the jewelry out of the mixture and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Gold-filled Jewelry Care

How to Clean Gold-filled Jewelry

  • Good old soap and water
Use a soft toothbrush/cloth and a mild detergent or soap to clean your golf-filled jewelry.

  • A simple soft cloth
Use a clean, dry and soft cloth is an ideal way to clean your gold-filled jewelry. A soft cloth will not scratch the surface. Chemicals are not recommended on gold-filled items unless you find a specific material suited for this.

Pearl Care

Cultured pearls are delicate and require proper care. They shouldn’t be maintained the same way as other jewelry.

How to Clean Pearls

1. Once in a while, wipe your pearls with a soft cloth. This will help prevent any buildup of substances that may have come in contact with your pearls throughout the day.

2. Clean with a damp cloth only as needed. If your pearls are visibly stained, you can mix a solution of lukewarm water and mild dish soap, dip a soft cleaning cloth in it and wipe the pearls.

3. Let them dry completely before storing.

Pearl Maintenance Tips

1. “Last on, first off”. Pearls should be the final touch to your outfit. Avoid applying makeup, hairspray, lotion, or perfume once your pearls are on.

2. Create a dedicated space for your pearls. Soft pearls are prone to scratches, so store them separately in fabric-lined compartments.

3. Wear your pearls often. Pearls do best in a moist environment, so wearing them frequently keeps them from drying out. Cool right? :)

Now go ahead and enjoy your new pearls :)

Gems Care

Sometimes you’ll find you want to refresh and clean your jewelry, if it contains any gem integrated, please follow the instruction mentioned here to clean the gems specifically.

Most of our gems will respond well to warm water, mild detergent, and a soft brush or a soft cloth (However, some gems do have sensitivities, for pearls specifically, please refer to the Pearls care guide).

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry after.
Warm water, a gentle detergent if necessary, and a soft brush will work well.

After cleaning please make sure you let the gems dry before storing them.
